Promote an industry that is respectful of the environment: our sustainable development mission
As a bio-industry stakeholder, our business is the production of amino acids, molecules naturally present in living things. The resources that we use are mainly agricultural and local. Our solutions are primarily used by the livestock farming and mead production industries. The industry that uses our solutions is that of livestock farming and meat production. All this inscribes us in a circular economy model that requires genuine responsibility when it comes to our ecological footprint and the sustainability of animal productions.
Through our business, reconciling production and the environment
Working upstream from animal nutrition industries, we have a major role to play in their sustainable development.
Our business encompasses the design, production and methods for using amino acids in animal farming.
- These amino acids come from a fermentation process.
For this, we use agricultural raw materials like the sugar beet and starch hydrolysates from grain. Thanks to bacterial fermentation, the amino acid molecules thus produced are identical to those from living things. - These amino acids participate in effective animal nutrition and optimize the management of resources.
The use of amino acid makes it possible to valorize local raw materials and reduce dependency on protein, while simultaneously improving the technical performance of animal farming. - These amino acids reduce the environmental impact of animal farming.
Within a framework of reducing the amounts of dietary proteins, good livestock nutrition includes balanced dietary intakes in amino acids. Consequently, this has a direct impact on reducing the emission of nitrogen pollutants and greenhouse gases (in the ground, air and water). It plays an undeniable role in optimizing lifecycles in meat production.
Decreasing European agricultural dependency and freeing up arable lands
Balancing the diet of farm animals requires agricultural raw materials rich in protein, like soy. Currently, this resource is widely imported in Europe, which only produces 30% of its consumption. And yet, using amino acids drastically decreases these needs. It is thus estimated that 100,000 tons of L-Lysine combined with other amino acids (such as L-Tryptophan and L-Valine) generate a savings of approximately 3.5 million tons of imported soybean meal. On the worldwide scale, this represents a savings of more than 15 million hectares of arable lands henceforth available for human nutrition, as well as a significant decrease in our agricultural dependency and pressure on our forest resources.
Through our environmental management system, anticipating expectations
At EUROLYSINE, we are getting out ahead of environmental regulations in order to be at the forefront of a bio-industry with a low ecological footprint. The principles of the circular economy underlie our responsible production and consumption policies and encourage us to innovate constantly. Consequently, we make sure to analyze and optimize our products’ life cycles.
Our commitment is based on four principles.
- Encouraging local consumption and production by positively integrating ourselves into our natural and societal environment.
- Recycling throughout every stage of production, treating and recycling water, recovering and recycling waste and used products, mainly into fertilizer, systematically reusing waste.
- Optimizing our energy performance by adopting the best available technologies and reducing waste.
- Taking into consideration environmental protection in all of our technical, economic and social decisions.
Internally, we cultivate this responsible approach with all of our employees, through awareness campaigns and the application of a rigorous environmental management system.
In order to always offer safe and quality final products, our commitment is supplemented with an in-depth quality process.
